The Census
The first Census of the United States of America began on August 2, 1790. It estimated the population to be just under four million people. The twenty-second Census, at a cost of 6.5 billion dollars, estimated the year 2000 population to be over 280 million.
As communities age, grow and diversify, it's important to make sure our preparedness, response and recovery plans reflect the changing needs of the people we serve. Census data is a wealth of free planning information that will keep you aware of the needs in your community.
