Heat Sickness
With record high temperatures it's easy for people and animals to go from being hot and uncomfortable to suffering heat illness (with cramps in muscles), to heat exhaustion (with headache, dizziness, weakness, nausea and cool, moist skin), to the life-threatening condition of heat stroke (with vomiting, decreased alertness or unconsciousness, high body temperature, with rapid weak pulse and shallow breathing).
Medical professionals advise that you cool the body directly, drink lots of fluids, and minimize heat exposure. Make sure everyone in your circle of influence knows the dangers and the proper response. Let's keep each other cool and healthy.
