Some Don't Like it Hot

As temperatures around the world continue to set new records, it is important to understand these changes – and help our communities learn to cope. More than ever, leaving children, seniors, medically fragile people or pets in a hot place like the car on a summer day - even for a short time - can have tragic consequences. Offer your staff, clients and the community you serve some “cool” alternatives.

Examples: provide lists of accessible air conditioned places; create extra shade; give away hand-held fans (printed with safety information of course); chill alcohol wipes for refreshing giveaways; and clearly mark where water fountains, cold drinks or ice can be found. Encourage others to come up with and implement other “cool” ideas.
