Spring!

Today marks the Vernal Equinox, generally considered the first day of spring. That makes it the perfect time for a vital but often dismissed aspect of preparedness: cleaning! Make it part of your Spring Cleaning to:

• Clear safe spaces under your desk, table or counter. You can’t Duck under your desk during an earthquake or other emergency if there’s no room!
• Ensure emergency exits aren’t blocked, and the path to them is wide open.
• Store combustible and/or flammable items in a safe manner – away from sources of heat, flame or sparks, and away from things like blankets or curtains that spread the danger.
• Get rid of dangerous items you don’t really need, like old paint or cleaners (try to recycle them properly!).
